The Eighth Meeting of the Regional Aviation Safety Group – Asia and Pacific Regions (RASG-APAC/8) was held at the ICAO APAC Office, on 6-7 September 2018. Mr. Shane P. Carmody, CEO and Director of the Aviation Safety, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Australia and Mr. Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar, CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia were elected as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively for a three-years term.
The meeting adopted 14 Decisions and two Conclusions. The key outcomes of the RASG-APAC/8 meeting included:
The review and update of the APAC Regional Priorities and Targets taking into consideration the safety commitments of the Beijing Declaration, of the 1st Asia/Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation.
Endorsing the proposal for the APAC Accident Investigation Group (AIG) to report directly to RASG APAC.
Enhancing the Annual Work Programme of RASG APAC to include development of a Regional Aviation Safety Plan (RASP) to bridge the implementation of State National Aviation Safety Plans (NASP) by 2025.
