Middle East Air Navigation Planning and Implementation and Regional Aviation Safety

he ICAO MID Office hosted the Seventeenth Meeting of the Middle East Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (MIDANPIRG 17) and the Seventh Meeting of the Regional Aviation Safety Group – Middle East (RASG-MID 7) which were organized concurrently, from 15 to 18 April 2019, for the first time in Cairo, Egypt.

The event was honored by the presence of His Excellency, Mr. Ali Khalil Ibrahim, the Director General of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, and attended by a total of 98 participants from 14 States (Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, UAE, UK, USA and Yemen) and nine international and regional organizations (ACAO, Airbus, Canso, EUROCONTROL, IATA, IFAIMA, IFALPA, IFATCA and MIDRMA).

Participants were introduced to 52 working papers, seven information papers and 16 presentations that highlighted important topics and presented the outcomes of the different MIDANPIRG and RASG-MID subsidiary bodies.

Addressing participants, Mr. Mohamed Khalifa Rahma, ICAO’s Middle East Office Regional Director, expressed his sincere gratitude to all MID States for their support to the MIDANPIRG and RASG-MID activities and for hosting the majority of the previous meetings.

In his speech, he also expressed the ICAO MID Office’s gratitude to the States who provided the resources to support the meetings: the Civil Aviation Authority of   Qatar, the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia and the General Civil Aviation Authority of UAE that assisted the ICAO MID Office in hosting this important event. Mr. Rahma also thanked the exhibitors of the event: EMPIC and United ATS.
