We are collaborating with the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe to host the Tenth Edition of the AFI Aviation Week from 26 to 30 May 2025 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. It is an important annual event that brings together key aviation stakeholders to discuss strategies and actions to support the growth and development of the aviation industry in Africa.
A platform for progress and cooperation
AFI Week serves as a vital forum for reviewing aviation developments, evaluating progress in implementing ICAO’s global and regional plans, and addressing key priorities for the sector’s future. Discussions will include updates on ICAO’s new 2026-50 Strategic Plan and the progress we have achieved in our transformational objectives. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about enhancing aviation performance across all ICAO strategic objectives.
Key events and objectives
The AFI Aviation Week programme features several significant meetings and events designed to address key challenges and opportunities in the African aviation sector:
- Monday, 26 May 2025: AFCAC Coordinated Meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation (AFI-DGCA)
This meeting will focus on reviewing the latest developments in aviation performance within the region, identifying capacity-building priorities, and addressing key challenges. Participants will include Directors General of Civil Aviation from AFI States, supported by technical experts, as well as invited representatives from international and regional organizations. - Tuesday-Wednesday, 27–28 May 2025: Steering Committee Meetings for the AFI Plan and AFI SECFAL Plan
These meetings will review the implementation of the AFI Plan and the AFI SECFAL Plan, evaluate progress in aviation safety and security, and discuss the 2025-2030 work programs and projects. Participants will include Steering Committee Members, Directors General of Civil Aviation, senior government officials, and representatives from international and regional organizations. - Wednesday-Thursday, 28–29 May 2025: AFI Aviation Symposium
The symposium will provide a platform to share success stories, discuss challenges, and develop strategies to further enhance aviation performance in the region. Additionally, it will explore the future of aviation in the AFI region in the context of ICAO’s 2026-50 Strategic Plan. Attendees will include Directors General of Civil Aviation, representatives from AFI States, international and regional organizations, and industry stakeholders. - Friday, 30 May 2025: Outcomes of AFI Week
The final day will be dedicated to presenting the key outcomes of the week’s discussions to the plenary for consideration and further guidance. All participants will be involved in this session to ensure alignment and clarity on the next steps for the region.
