The Regional Cooperation Mechanism Task Force (RCM TF) conducted its ninth meeting on 29 and 30 November 2022 as a hybrid event at the ICAO APAC Office with 31 participants representing all 15 member States/Administrations of the Task Force. The Task Force was established by the 54th APAC DGCA Conference to focus on strengthening and evolving existing regional mechanisms for regional cooperation towards capability and capacity building and technical assistance.
The meeting reviewed and agreed upon an Implementation Roadmap containing action items to provide technical assistance and support capability and capacity building, especially focused on resource-constrained APAC States, which was developed through a coordinated regional needs survey and analysis. Another important outcome of the meeting was the endorsement of a methodology to undertake an examination of the feasibility of an Asia Pacific Civil Aviation Commission (APCAC) as assigned to the Task Force by the 57 APAC DGCA Conference held in July, 2022 in the Republic of Korea. The meeting also decided on the timeline of the feasibility study and the task assignment to three sub-groups formulated within the Task Force.
The progress of the work of RCM TF will be reported to the next APAC DGCA Conference scheduled to be held in October 2023 in Bangladesh.
