In 2014 the Spectrum Review Working group was established to explore the spectrum capacity for very high-frequency communications (VHF-COM) band in order to support the regional strategy on the introduction of 8.33KHz channel spacing, and develop recommendations for further consideration by CNS Sub-group and APANPIRG.
With the implementation of the Frequency Finder, an ICAO tool to assist the Regional Office and States in frequency management, the APAC regional process for everyday VHF-COM coordination and Frequency List 3 has successfully migrated to the new platform with up-to-date currency.
The Fourth Meeting of the Spectrum Review Working Group (SRWG/4) of APANPIRG was held via video conferencing from 9 to 10 June 2020. There were 43 participants from 12 States/administrations participated in the meeting.
In the discussions, the SRWG/4 highlighted further improvements with the regional process and global database; revised the TOR to accommodate the navigation systems; and adopted a rolling frequency assignment plan for VHF-COM and ILS, VOR, DME and GBAS/VDB facilities to meet the operational requirements until 2030.
