The President of the ICAO Council meets with the Honourable Prime Minister of Thailand
On 26 July 2019, Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, accompanied by the ICAO APAC Regional Director Mr. Arun Mishra, called on the Hon. Prime Minister of Thailand. He thanked the Prime Minister for the support of Thailand in providing the lovely facilities for the 2019 3rd ICAO Global Aviation Cooperation Symposium (GACS 3) in Phuket and the recent approval for major renovation of the Conference and Secretariat building of ICAO APAC Regional Office.
The Prime Minister of Thailand expressed his satisfaction with the support received by Thailand from the APAC Regional Office in Bangkok and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to fully support ICAO initiatives in the region.
56th Asia and Pacific DGCA Conference

The 56th ASIA & PACIFIC DGCA CONFERENCE was held from 19 to 23 August 2019 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Seven discussion papers stimulated thoughts on the theme, “Harmonizing Efforts to Meet the Capacity Constraints” calling attention on the need of increasing physical and human resources, for the Asia Pacific region to be able to cope with the high growth of air traffic in the region with mutual cooperation and harmonizing efforts.
The 3rd Global Aviation Cooperation Symposium (GACS2019)
Under the theme: Bridging the SARPs Compliance Gap with Quality and Efficiency, the 3rd Global Aviation Cooperation Symposium (GACS2019) was held from 22-24 July 2019 in Phuket, Thailand Symposium gathered a total of 299 leading civil aviation leaders, experts and professionals from around the world to discuss, present and exchange views on major areas in civil aviation. These include Infrastructure Development; Improving Regulatory Compliance; Technical Cooperation; Capacity Building Through Training and Strategic Partnerships.
The Thirtieth Meeting of Asia/Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group
The Thirtieth Meeting of the Asia/Pacific Air Navigation on Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG/30) was held at ICAO APAC Office, Bangkok, Thailand from 4 to 6 November 2019. The meeting was attended by 151 participants from 22 Member States, 2 Special Administrative Regions of China and 7 International Organizations. Seventh Meeting of the Air Traffic Management Subgroup Outcomes
The Seventh Meeting of the Air Traffic Management Subgroup was attended by 135 participants from 34 States, two Special Administrative Regions of China and eight International and ATM-related organizations.
10th Anniversary of the APAC Flight Procedure Programme (FPP)

SWIM in ASEAN Demonstration
A successful SWIM in ASEAN Demonstration was conducted by Thailand (AEROTHAI) and Singapore (CAAS) on 12 and 15 November 2019 in both Bangkok and Singapore. Over 200 participants from ASEAN Member States plus Australia, Hong Kong China, Japan, and USA actively participated in the Demonstration. Representatives from ICAO, IATA and industry partners also attended the events.
Regional Guidance Materials for Implementation of CNS Related Facilities and Services
The Twenty Third Meeting of the Communications, Navigation and Surveillance Sub-group (CNS SG/23) of APANPIRG was held at the ICAO Regional Office, Bangkok, Thailand, from 2 to 6 September 2019. 102 participants from 24 States/Administrations and 4 International Organizations participated in the meeting. The CNS Sub-group plays an important role in facilitating States in the provision of seamless air navigation service with the deployment of advanced technologies in a harmonized manner.
The 2nd ICAO-EASA Forum “Achieving the Beijing Ministerial
Declaration Commitments for Aviation Safety”
The 2nd ICAO-EASA Forum on Civil Aviation in South East Asia was held on 19 November 2019 at Ha Long, Vietnam. The Forum adopted several conclusions under the following session topics: Enhancing Strategies and Objectives, Increasing Effective Implementation and Reducing Operational Risks.

The 11th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting of the ICAO Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA-AP/11) organized by ICAO Asia Pacific Office in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) from 21 to 24 October 2019 was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, hosted by courtesy of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.
