Every year around the world, March 8th is celebrated as International Women’s Day. It is a day for recognizing the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and for raising awareness about women’s equality. The ICAO Asia and Pacific (APAC) Regional Office, in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), hosted a half-day event recognizing International Women’s Day 2026.
Guided by the inspiring theme “Careers Beyond the Horizon: Boundless Opportunities in Aviation”, the event aimed to spark students’ interest in aviation and motivate them to envision themselves in dynamic, high-impact roles across the sector. By highlighting a wide range of career pathways, the programme supported the development of the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) and encouraged future leaders to shape the skies of tomorrow.
Representatives from across the aviation industry — including regulators, airports, airlines, academic institutions, and training organizations — came together to provide students with firsthand exposure to the diverse opportunities available within the field. The programme began with opening remarks from the Regional Director, ICAO APAC, followed by the Deputy Director General of CAAT, both of whom underscored the importance of fostering young talent for the future of aviation.
Throughout the session, speakers from the ICAO APAC Office, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), Airports of Thailand (AOT), Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) Thailand, AEROTHAI and Thai Airways shared valuable insights into their organizations, outlining career trajectories, upcoming opportunities, and the evolving skill sets sought by the aviation sector. The discussions highlighted Thailand’s dynamic aviation landscape and demonstrated how young, motivated individuals can build meaningful, impactful careers in the industry.
Students also received information on various emerging job opportunities and were introduced to plans for an upcoming aviation career fair to be hosted by AEROTHAI, Thai Airways, and other partner organizations — inspiring many to further explore their potential within the sector.
Building on the success of the recent event and underscoring the importance of inspiring young individuals to pursue careers in aviation, the ICAO APAC Regional Director, in his closing remarks, proudly reaffirmed ICAO’s commitment to supporting the next generation. To advance this mission, ICAO warmly invites universities to visit the APAC office, offering students valuable opportunities to gain deeper insights into the aviation industry. These visits will not only allow students to explore technical aspects aligned with their interests but also help them understand ICAO’s vital role and objectives in shaping and advancing global aviation.
