Cranfield University, in partnership with CAA International (CAAi)*, has launched a brand new course:
Aviation Safety Management, Risk and Regulation. This unique postgraduate course provides a spectrum of technical knowledge in the context of safety management, risk and regulation in aviation, that offers a global opportunity to engage with real safety problems that occur today, as well as future challenges.

Professionals working in the aerospace and commercial air transport industries, and regulators, need to possess detailed knowledge of existing and emerging safety management issues facing the industry during design, production, operation, and maintenance of products and systems. This course enables the aviation industry and regulatory authorities to make more informed risk management decisions, ultimately leading to safer, more cost-effective operations.

Starting in January 2021, the structure of the course supports enhanced depth of learning and the blend of different modes of delivery enables student to have more flexibility. Cranfield University offers a comprehensive range of library and IT services tuned to support a part-time mode of learning, enabling national and international students to study while balancing work/life commitments. The course is innovative, different, unique and flexible.

Bringing the regulators and the aviation industry together, the brand new Aviation Safety Management, Risk and Regulation course offers an academic qualification that, when put into practice, will have global implications.

The course is delivered through the specialist Cranfield Safety and Accident Investigation Centre that has operated for more than 40 years to support global safety and investigation, and boasting unique facilities, including a crash lab, its own Boeing 737, and airfield accident simulations. In 2019, the centre won the prestigious Queen's Anniversary Prize for delivering in-flight aerospace engineering training through its flying classrooms and laboratories. The centre also secured the prize in 2011 for its world-leading work in aviation safety through research and training in air accident investigation. CAAi offers world-class training in regulatory and broader safety subjects, with experienced current regulators leading many of the courses.

Aviation Safety Management, Risk and Regulation is available part-time as either an MSc, PgDip or PgCert. UK employers can access the course through their Apprenticeship Levy funding, while the non-apprenticeship route is available to both UK and international delegates.
