Efforts that help improve ATC situation awareness

ATC Situation Awareness plays a key role in safe and efficient operations. Member States and industries are striving to continuously improve in this critical area through experience sharing and the implementation of surveillance and automation technology.

Aeronautical Surveillance Workshop, Bangkok, 5-6 November 2018

A workshop supported by the Surveillance Panel was attended by participants from Member States, international organizations and industry partners. It provided an overview of the latest developments in standards, technical provisions and guidance materials related to surveillance provisions and the Surveillance Panel activities and called for ANSPs, manufacturers and operators to maintain close cooperation in ADS-B and use of and sharing data from aeronautical surveillance systems, and to work together to further improve aeronautical surveillance facilities and services in the APAC region to achieve Seamless ATM.

ATM Automation System Symposium, Nanjing, 22-23 November 2018

The ICAO Asia Pacific Regional ATM Automation System Symposium held in China recognized the usefulness and importance of organizing the first symposium of this kind to facilitate exchanging best practices among APAC States/Administrations. It was aimed at keeping abreast of the latest developments in ATM automation systems and associated technologies for implementation of the ICAO GANP and the APAC Seamless ATM Plan. The deliberations during the symposium and outcomes of the event were designed to help States/Administrations in improving daily operation and maintenance of ATM Automation Systems and in planning and building the next generation of air navigation systems.
