We are uniting aviation. Do you want to be part of things?

Most of you know what we do…

We are the UN specialized agency that manages the administration and governance of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. We work with 193 Member States and industry groups to reach consensus on international civil aviation Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and policies to ensure the civil aviation sector of the world is safe, efficient, secure, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible.

At ICAO we work in close cooperation with other members of the United Nations family such as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Non-governmental organizations that work with us include Airports Council International (ACI), the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO), the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), the International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations (ICCAIA), the International Council of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA), the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) and the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA).

By sharing our community, we’ll be able to grow it.

When we launched our online, community-driven magazine, our goal was to bring together new aviation partners and to highlight the work and collaboration of the existing ones. This is a forum where our subject-matter experts can explain how our standards and policies are used by ICAO Member States to ensure that their civil aviation operations and regulations confirm to global norms. This is also a place where our partners can share their own achievements, challenges, developments and partnerships.

We’ve been around since 1944, we know how to get information out there. This platform gives us more tools to connect with the industry; to gauge the subject areas that matter to you; and to bring you updates on more aspects of the industry, more often.

We were already working together – because we do our part and you do yours, every day 100,000+ flights leave airports around the world, operating safely and reliably. We serve an important role in this and we know we aren’t alone. We want to improve our work by sharing your efforts that support ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and our own mandate to ensure No Country is Left Behind.

How can you join the Uniting Aviation network?

There are two ways. The simplest one is to take this survey and tell us what you want to read more about. What areas of aviation are you most interested in? What is the best way we can shape the content that will help you in your career? We are also looking for subject matter experts to contribute content. If you have insight, information, developments, videos and interactive tools that support our “safe, efficient, secure, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible” Strategic Objectives, we want you to share them with us. While newsworthy updates are appealing to enquiring minds, we’re  looking for general interest content and profiles on industry professionals around the world. This is not a call for promotional content, though we do have plenty of advertising and sponsorship opportunities that can be customized to suit your needs.

The more people contribute to this voice, the better we can extend community-driven conversations about our Strategic Objectives. By welcoming external contributions in here, we’ll be increasing the conversations, and not only will you gain visibility for your expertise, but we will be bringing air transport partners together.
