C Series Minimum Speed Flight Tests

Future markets will demand aircraft that have mainline range and performance but are as nimble as regional jets. The unprecedented operational flexibility of the C Series aircraft will let operators open more new routes and offer the frequency being demanded by passengers, without increasing costs.

As part of its Flight Test Schedule, the C Series aircraft performed the “Velocity Minimum Unstick Testing” in Salina, Kansas in the Spring of 2015. Vmu testing is a high-risk flight test which makes it one of the most fascinating ones in the certification schedule. It is performed to determine the minimum speed the aircraft requires for normal take-off at various airports around the world.
