With just weeks to go, you still have time to register for the Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS 2026) taking place from 13 to 16 April in Marrakech, Morocco. Bringing together States, industry leaders, financial institutions, and technical experts, GISS 2026 will focus on one essential question: how do we translate global aviation priorities into measurable, on-the-ground results?
Cohosted by the Kingdom of Morocco, this year’s symposium will provide aviation stakeholders with a platform for exchanging practical solutions, strengthening partnerships, and accelerating implementation in line with ICAO’s No Country Left Behind (NCLB) initiative.
A global forum focused on delivery
GISS has become ICAO’s flagship event dedicated to implementation support—moving beyond policy discussions to address the real-world challenges States face in strengthening their aviation systems. The symposium is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including civil aviation authorities, ministries, international and regional organizations, service providers, financial and development institutions, training organizations, academia, and industry partners. By bringing these communities together, GISS enables cross-sector dialogue that reflects the interconnected nature of aviation development today.
A programme built around real-world challenges
The GISS 2026 programme is designed to connect strategy with delivery through a series of high-level panels, interactive discussions, and targeted exchanges. Discussions will focus on key issues that are shaping aviation development:
-
Global air connectivity — exploring how aviation links people, economies, and opportunity, and how regional models such as SAATM can support scalable growth.
-
Safety and security in an evolving landscape — examining the realities behind the ambition of zero fatalities, including lessons learned from initiatives that did not achieve their objectives and what is needed to strengthen future systems.
-
Financing aviation development — where selected aviation development projects are presented to financial experts, who share perspectives on financing approaches.
-
Strengthening implementation support — focusing on how ICAO, States, development banks, and partners can work together more effectively to address root causes of safety and oversight challenges.
-
Regional cooperation and oversight mechanisms — exploring how regional models such as regional safety oversight organizations (RSOOs) and regional accident investigation organizations (RAIOs) can enhance governance, efficiency, and accountability.
-
Infrastructure for emerging markets — with case studies highlighting both successes and challenges in delivering climate-resilient, fit-for-purpose airport infrastructure.
-
Workforce development and the next generation of aviation professionals — addressing the global talent gap through training, partnerships, and innovative approaches to skills development.
Through these sessions, participants will explore how ICAO programmes, State-led initiatives, and industry solutions can work together to deliver tangible outcomes.
Supporting the No Country Left Behind vision
At the heart of GISS 2026 is ICAO’s No Country Left Behind initiative, which aims to ensure that all Member States—regardless of size, resources, or level of development—can fully benefit from safe, secure, and sustainable aviation.
By spotlighting implementation support mechanisms, sharing best practices, and facilitating connections between States and partners, GISS 2026 reinforces ICAO’s commitment to equitable aviation development and long-term capacity building.
Join these conversations
As the global aviation community prepares to gather in Marrakech, GISS 2026 offers a timely opportunity to move from dialogue to action—strengthening partnerships, advancing implementation, and shaping the future of aviation together.
