It was the first virtual event in a series of thematic training weeks that was launched by ICAO Global Aviation Training. The session that took place this week (from 23 to 27 November), addressed the need for States to maintain their compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) during this difficult time:
In an era where air transport has been greatly impacted by the pandemic, it is especially important to achieve a harmonized implementation of ICAO SARPs. This achievement is contingent upon the competency of civil aviation managers. The theme for the opening of the series was centered around the Managing Compliance with ICAO SARPs (MCIS) training course, which is dedicated to providing adequate management and technical training to senior and middle managers of civil aviation who manage or support the implementation of SARPs.
During the Training Week, participants were invited to engage in discussions with peers, technical experts and other aviation industry professionals from around the globe. Trainees were able to attend the virtual opening ceremony, followed by a technical panel of experts addressing the subject matter, followed by the simultaneous delivery of the MCIS course in all ICAO official languages (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian) that was presented in various time zones.
Aviation professionals interested in participating are required to register to the course in their preferred learning language. Though new themes will be organized in 2021, participants who were unable to attend this week’s training course, can participate in the following sessions that will take place the week of 14 to 18 December 2020, in three languages (English, French and Spanish). The links for these sessions are shared below:
- Managing Compliance with ICAO SARPs (MCIS)
- Gestion de la conformité aux SARPs de l’OACI (MCIS)
- Gestión del cumplimiento de los SARPS de la OACI (MCIS)
Course fees are USD1,250 per participant for Regulatory Authority personnel (USD1,550 for all other industry participants). A maximum of 20 participants can be accommodated in each session.
